The State Secretariat for Science, Technology and Innovation - SECTI, was created by Law No. 2783 of January 31, 2003. Also included in its structure are the Universidade do Estado do Amazonas– UEA (State University of Amazonas), the Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado do Amazonas - FAPEAM (Foundation to Support Research of the State of Amazonas) and the Centro de Educação Tecnológica do Amazonas- CETAM (Center for Technological Education of the Amazonas) as related institutions that make up the State Public System for Science, Technology& Innovation– ST&I.
SECTI’s mission is to take actions to integrate the systems related to Science, Technology and Innovation, coupled with the preparation of plans, programs and projects related to research, sustainable development, innovation, popularization of science, coordination of public policies, communication of scientific issues and production and improvement of regional indicators of ST&I in accordance with government guidelines.
SECTI has participated in international projects, including a project funded by the European Commission aiming at reducing environmental impacts.
