I know many people that suffer from Dyslexia (two people in my team that I lead) and we strongly believe that we have come up with a way of helping Dyslexic people on a day to day basis, from left to rights, to alphabets, help with reading and even help with writing. We have already done the design with the O2 thinkbig workshop at campus party in Berlin and only need to develop the application more. After the workshop we did a patent in which needs to be finished with the prototype
An application in which in as the following features: Camera overlay with magnifier with chosen colour via a colour chart or wheel. Text editor that has a coloured background of the sufferers choice (chosen within the settings) and dyslexia friendly font. it gives the ability to change Italics to normal font and option to change BLOCK capitals to lower case The text editor interacts as a client for emails to help dyslexic people with writing and reading. Resources including left & rights, Alphabet, Date formats and months of the year
The objective is to help specific needs of each individual that suffers from learning disabilities and as much people as possible in world.
The expected results is to begin with reaching the Dyslexic people within the UK and Europe and further expansion with BDA (British Dyslexia Association) and help people that do not even know they are Dyslexic
The impact would be huge as it would save dyslexic people with so much that it will save them time and many incidents of confusion.
The next part of the workplan is find a developer and create a full prototype. We are at the same time holding focus groups with experts, Dyslexia sufferers, teachers and organisation within the context of learning disabilities.
